The Second Tour started in 1996 by a group of dedicated spouses who saw the need for a base thrift store. Its name comes from the military expression of serving a back to back assignment -- a second tour -- in the same locale. Originally housed in a storage shed, the tour currently resides in a bungalow generously provided by the base.
Because of dedicated volunteers, over the years the tour has provided tens of thousands of dollars for our scholarship and charity efforts. In 2011 and 2012 DOSC donated over $15,000 ($18,000 the year before) to local students and organizations. Amazing!
We know you will want to be a part of this great endeavor. Please check your schedules and see if a morning or evening a month is open for you to volunteer. Many hands make light work.
